Welcome to Wessex CofE Primary Academy, a state-funded Church of England school for children aged 4-11 years which is proposed for the new communities of Brue Farm and Isleport being built at Highbridge, near Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset.
We intend to submit our application to the Department for Education (DfE) in autumn 2017 and plan to open with two Reception classes of 30 children. Intakes of additional years will be considered subject to local demand. The opening date for our first intake will be agreed with the DfE and Somerset County Council following a successful application. The School will also have a Nursery.
Wessex CofE Primary Academy will be operated by the Wessex Learning Trust (WLT) which runs high quality schools in the area, including Ofsted Outstanding Middle and First Schools. The Trust will work with its successful Axbridge and Weare Church of England First Schools and Hugh Sexey CofE Middle School, and will deliver high quality provision and leadership from the outset supported by the Diocese of Bath & Wells.
We will offer pupils of all faiths and none the very best possible educational experience via a rich and dynamic curriculum and wide range of enrichment activities including modern foreign languages, science and sport, provided with a supportive and inclusive Christian ethos.
WLT is located at the Kings of Wessex School in Cheddar, and our family of eight academies in the Cheddar Valley strive to offer a world class, 21st century education for all young people between the ages of 2 and 18, by providing outstanding learning opportunities and creating centres of educational excellence that meet the needs of all children.
