Admissions Policy

Wessex CofE Primary Academy will welcome children of all abilities, from all backgrounds, of all faiths and none.

The Admissions Policy for Wessex CofE Primary Academy will satisfy the requirements of the School Admissions Code, the School Admissions Appeals Code and admissions law. The admissions process will be inclusive, open, fair and transparent.

The Planned Admissions Number (PAN) for the school will be 60 via a two-form entry. Each year, up to 60 pupils will be admitted to Reception, subject to the judgements of an independent appeals panel. Intakes in additional year groups will also be considered subject to local demand. When full, the school will have 420 pupils on roll.

In accordance with the law, children with statements of Special Educational Need or with an Education Health and Care Plan will be admitted to the school where the Local Authority has specifically named Wessex CofE Primary Academy as the most appropriate placement.

In the event of there being greater demand than there are places available to the school, places will be offered using oversubscription criteria in keeping with the School Admissions Code. There will no faith-based oversubscription criteria; priority will not be given in the oversubscription criteria to those families who attend church.
